The Mice That Ate Iron
Panchatantra · retold for families
About 4 min read aloud · For grown-ups and children together
A merchant traveling abroad left a bar of iron with a friend. “Keep this safe,” he said.
Upon return the friend claimed mice ate the iron. The merchant nodded calmly.
Later the merchant borrowed the friend’s child to help carry goods. “Mice took your son,” he said when the friend panicked.
The friend confessed and returned the iron bar.
